Sales Targets

Sales Targets help managers define their sales team's KPIs by setting monthly sales targets to track booked orders, invoiced orders, or both.

Key terms

Booked order: A project that has a sales order and purchase orders. A sales order is "booked" when the client approves the sale, and the rep creates supplier POs.

Invoiced order: A project that has an invoice created. An order is considered "invoiced" once the invoice has been created.

Client rep: The salesperson who manages the client's account, usually known as the account manager or account executive. 

In production: A project that has a sales order and purchase orders. A sales order's status automatically changes to In Production when a rep creates the supplier purchase orders.

Setting sales targets

Users with permission to modify sales targets and view the management menu can set their team’s sales targets through the Management Analytics tab.

To set a target:

  1. Click the Edit Targets button
  2. Use the radios to select whether to set targets against invoices, sales orders in production, or both
  3. Click the rep drop-down menu and select the rep
  4. Click the year drop-down menu and select the year
  5. Enter/change the targets
  6. Click Close

Tracking sales targets

Once sales targets have been set up for your client reps, you can track progress towards sales goals from the:

Sales Dashboard

Sales reps can use the Invoices this month meter and the Projection tile on the Sales Dashboard to track their monthly sales targets against invoiced orders. 

They can also use the Sales orders in production meter to track their sales targets against booked orders.

Both the Invoices this month and the Sales orders in production progress bars will reset every month according to the sales targets set by the management team.

Management Dashboard

Managers can use the Invoices this month meter and the Projection tile on the Management Dashboard to track monthly sales targets against invoiced orders for individual reps or across the entire team. 

They can also use the Sales orders in production meter to track sales targets against booked orders for individual reps or across the entire team. 

Both the Invoices this month and the Sales orders in production progress bars will reset every month according to the sales targets set by the management team.

Sales Analytics

Within the Sales Analytics tab, sales reps can apply their desired filters and hover over the Sales Orders in Production and Invoices vs. Target Graphs to track how their sales are doing to target.

Management Analytics

Within the Management Analytics tab, managers can apply their desired filters and hover over the Sales Orders in Production and Invoices vs. Target Graphs to track how their team's sales are doing to target. Filters can be applied to either track an entire team's sales target or an individual rep's. 

Finance Analytics

From the Finance Analytics tab, finance reps can apply their desired filters and hover over the Invoices vs. Target and Projection Graphs to track how their teams' sales are doing to target.

Projects tab

While sales targets are no longer set from the Projects tab, reps can still track their sales targets against invoiced orders by filtering the Projects tab by individual client reps.

FAQ

Can I still set monthly sales targets for my reps from the Projects tab?

No. Monthly sales targets can now only be set from the Management Analytics tab.

Can I track targets against booked orders from the Projects tab?

No. The Projects tab only tracks sales targets set against invoices; it does not track targets against sales orders in production.

Can I track targets against booked orders from the Finance Analytics tab?

Finance Analytics only tracks sales targets set against invoices; it does not track targets against sales orders in production.

Does the Projection tile track targets against booked orders?

The Projection tile on Sales and Management Dashboards and Finance Analytics only tracks sales targets set against invoices; it does not track targets against sales orders in production.
